Maddi’s Review:
Bri, also known as Lil Bit, or Lil Law, is on the come up. Bri wants to make it as a rapper and she knows she can. Bri is walking in her father Lawless’ shoes. But what if they are too big? Or what if Bri wants to walk in her own shoes and not her dad’s? Bri’s first song is a hit. But people misunderstand the message she is trying to send. Trouble at home, school and church make Lil Bit’s life even harder. Bri needs to figure how to follow her dreams without becoming something she’s not. Full of heart, the reader will not be able to put this book down. Angie Thomas’ On the Come Up is a truly beautiful and raw book about coming of age, figuring out who you are and fighting your demons.
